Muncie Redevelopment Commission

Muncie Redevelopment Commission (MRC) is authorized to acquire and dispose of abandoned residential properties. This Policy and Procedure Manual (Manual) attempts to compile programs and tools the City of Muncie through its Muncie Redevelopment Commission can use to provide opportunities for these abandoned properties.

Residential

The Muncie Redevelopment Commission (MRC) Residential Programs oversee a number of vacant residential buildings and vacant lots within the City of Muncie. As recommended by the Neighborhood Investment Committee (NIC), the MRC approves all acquisitions and dispositions through the program.
 
There are six residential programs, Residential, Urban Revitalization, Pocket Park, Community Garden & Orchard, Side Lot, and the Hardest Hit Fund Blight Elimination Program. Coworking Space

The CO:LAB is a collaborative coworking space for entrepreneurs, independent professionals, freelancers, and startup businesses with two locations in downtown Muncie. It offers a community work environment designed to bring members together to share expertise, facilitate networking and grow professional relationships, as well as a place to work independently and free from life’s daily distractions. 

Live-Work Project

In a collaboration with the City of Muncie, MRC, and other private, non-profit, and public organizations, a program will be established to promote, support, sustain, and maintain live-work areas throughout the City of Muncie.

With the Gas Boom came the Ball Brothers, a family rooted at the heart of Muncie development. The Ball Brothers are known for bringing Ball Corporation to Muncie, funding local businesses and serving the community with philanthropical acts.
